Join Oura at AHA Scientific Sessions 2026

Members of the Oura Clinical and Science Teams will be presenting at AHA Scientific Sessions, November 6- 9, 2026.
About AHA Scientific Sessions
AHA Scientific Sessions is hosted by the American Heart Association, a leading nonprofit focused on cardiovascular health, and is one of the world’s premier gatherings for heart and vascular science. Each year, researchers, clinicians, trainees, and industry innovators attend to hear clinical trial results, present their own work, and connect with colleagues from around the globe. For clinicians, the value is early access to practice-changing evidence, insight into emerging guidelines and treatment approaches, and the chance to learn directly from the investigators behind major studies.
“As a practicing physician I look forward to AHA Scientific Sessions to learn about new tools for patient care, the research behind them, and how I can apply them to my practice. I’m excited to hear from my peers, as well as share how we can use Oura data to narrow the gap between a paradigm of reactive care to the promise of prevention.” said Dr. Mike Freedman, Clinical Director, Heart Health at Oura

This is the third year Oura has attended AHA Scientific Sessions. Each year, the team has expanded their scientific contribution to the meeting as Oura Heart Health research and features have evolved.
In 2024, members of the Oura team traveled to AHA for the first time and shared one poster presentation with original scientific research. The topic of that poster was an early pilot study used in the development of the Cardiovascular Age (CVA) feature. Additionally, Oura’s SVP of Science, Shyamal Patel, participated in a panel discussion about the use of wearables in cardiovascular care, and Pauli Ohukainen, Staff Research Scientist, gave an introduction on Oura at AHA’s Center for Technology and Innovation Pavillion.
In 2025, the Oura Science Team gave three oral presentations as moderated posters. The team covered multiple cardiovascular research topics including:
- Using Oura data for cardiovascular disease detection with a large-scale foundation model
- Non-invasive estimation of pulse wave velocity in pregnant women using a wearable smart ring
- Wearable-PPG-based multi-task neural network for robust cardiorespiratory monitoring
Oura also had a booth at the venue where the Oura science team was available for expert questions at designated “Science Office Hours.”

In 2026, the Oura team will be sharing even more science research at four poster presentations and a health innovation presentation:
- Dr. Mike Freedman, Clinical Director of Heart Health at Oura, will be speaking at Bridging Innovation and Practice: Turning Digital Health Innovation into Action. Health Innovation Pavilion, 2:35-3:15pm, Saturday, Nov 7, 2026.
- Poster Sessions
- Are Wearable Users Healthier Than the General Population? Blood Lipid Insights from 29,983 Smart Ring Users and Matched-Samples from NHANES (Moderated poster presented by Kerry Martin, PhD)
- Cardio Effort: A Heart-Rate-Based Wearable Metric for Characterizing Exercise Dose-Response Relationships at Scale (Poster work led by by Joseph Munretto, PhD; presented by Pauli Ohukainen, PhD)
- Nocturnal Heart Rate Variability Across Age, Sex, and Resting Heart Rate in a Multinational Cohort of Smart Ring Users (Moderated poster presented by Tuomas Kentta, PhD)
- Population-Level Prevalence of Nocturnal Blood Pressure Dipping Phenotypes: Insights from 90,465 Oura Ring Users (Moderated poster, work led by Miska Valkonen, Staff Machine Learning Data Scientist, presented by Venla Timisjärvi, Junior Data Scientist)
“This is our third year presenting at AHA Scientific Sessions,” shared Pauli Ohukainen, PhD. “Oura is conducting cutting edge research leveraging wearable data from Oura Ring which informs both our product development and contributes to population level insights related to cardiovascular health. We are thrilled to share our findings with the broader scientific community.”
About the Oura Experts
Mike Freedman, MD, MPhil, is Oura’s Clinical Director of Heart Health, leading the company’s cardiovascular product, science, and clinical research strategy. He is also a practicing pediatric cardiovascular ICU physician at Stanford University School of Medicine and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, with prior experience leading clinical innovation in digital health at Samsung Research America. Dr. Freedman trained in pediatric critical care and biomedical informatics at Stanford, earned his MD from UCSF, and MPhil from the University of Cambridge.
