Oura and perimenopause: Navigating midlife transitions with physiological data

Description

This report looks at physiological shifts in individuals navigating midlife transitions. By analyzing continuous data across thousands of cycles, researchers highlighted severe disruptions to nighttime rest and autonomic nervous system recovery during late perimenopause.

The findings revealed that heart rate variability declines by 20% to 30% across the late perimenopausal transition. Furthermore, participating Oura Member cohorts experienced significant sleep loss compared to their typical premenopausal baselines. These objective insights help employers and healthcare providers optimize midlife wellbeing programs to support proactive and healthier long-term population wellness outcomes.
